About MTRC

MTRC is devoted to studying the role of tourism in community development in order to strengthen its contribution to viable economic, social, and environmental systems, especially in megapolitan regions around the world.

The mission is to harness tourism as an engine for community and social development.  Using megapolitan areas as a model, MTRC will evaluate long-term, system-wide strategies for enhancing the public good that may be beyond the planning horizon of most industry and government organizations.

Research projects and convenings will provide opportunities for the tourism industry, including tourism researchers, to give something back to the global community.  Many of the world's leading tourism scholars have embraced our vision.  We will continue to seek partnerships with tourism scholars and are eager to collaborate with leading scholars in all fields of study.
